SCATTER MY ASHES AT BERGDORF'S

Synopsis

SCATTER MY ASHES AT BERGDORF'S is the compelling story of the legendary Fifth Avenue store and landmark which has launched the careers of many of the top designers working in fashion today, and which continues to be the aspiration of every designer around the world. The story is told through interviews with designers Karl Lagerfeld, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Georgina Chapman, Christian Louboutin and Michael Kors to name a few, as well as celebrity and socialite clientele, longstanding employees, and the history and members of the Goodman family. The title comes from the New Yorker cartoon that expresses the sentiment of many of its devoted customers.

Like THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE and Anna Wintour, Bergdorf Goodman has Linda Fargo, the doyenne of the organization who decides who's in and who's out. This is illustrated by following a young design team, NAHM, trying to get its line into the store. The film also pulls back the curtain with a never before seen insider’s view of the process of creating Bergdorf’s fabled Holiday Windows by David Hoey and his team. And there is a famous personal shopper, Betty Halbreich, who has dressed the rich and famous forever, and some of her clients (Joan Rivers, Jean Doumanian, Candice Bergen and Susan Lucci) share their memories of her in their lives and in their movies.

After a successful career composing music for commercials and a subsequent stint as an accomplished literary agent for the oldest agency in America, Matthew Miele made an impractical, yet romantic leap at 30 years young—he began a writing/directing career. Allowing his whimsical side to take over, he manifested his ideas into feature films, documentaries, books and soon a daunting foray into a hopeful Broadway production of a new play. Previous to his latest documentary, Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s, his Quixotic Endeavors (the name of his production shingle) have included:
