Synopsis

Set in the Roxbury section of Boston, LIFT is a dramatic mother-daughter story that revolves around the high stakes world of shoplifting. Ray is a dynamic young woman who has a crisis of consciousness about the materialistic nature of her community, while also trying to make good for her family.

Director

DeMane Davis and Khari Steeter premiered their first film BLACK AND WHITE AND RED ALL OVER in 1996 at Sundance in competition. Their second film LIFT went through the Sundance Writer's and Director's Workshops, was awarded the first Maryland Filmmakers Fellowship, and is the US winner of the Sundance NHK International Filmmakers Award.

Since their auspicious feature debut, Davis and Steeter have honed their skills creating many cutting edge commercials, including Alan Iverson spots for Reebok and a campaign for Blue Cross Blue Shield.
